Collage

I chose to do the picture as a collage so I could make some elements bigger, thus showing their importance. I also think this format shows how Salinger lets us see into Zooey and Franny's world in little snapshots. Salinger's description of objects enlightens us to the family past, as well as characterization of the Glass family. Many things stood out to me reading the last section. The large red couch, the cigarettes and cigars, the dog outside the window, and the scrap book on the wall. By using the collage format i could bring these things to the front in my artwork. Salinger's writing style shows the reader instead of merely telling them, through this format I believe I accomplished the same thing, while also highlighting and distinguishing the important vs the mere elemental.
